"I am a Being of Light"
Kamla's Story

So much has happened to me since I entered into the fascinating world of Colour Light Therapy - many changes have happened both on the inside and outside and trying to summarise them in a short article is quite a challenge.

I had been working and training in healing for a number of years and looking for another healing modality to add to my skills. I'd been attracted to other types of colour healing but nothing had really clicked. I had a vivid dream one night and was left with a strong message: "I am a being of light" which became an affirmation to help me through a difficult period in my life. A friend was setting up courses in Colour Light Therapy and lent me the book Colour Me Healing by Jack Allanach. The first line of the book said: "We know today that man, essentially, is a being of light." Bingo! I rang and booked the course there and then! I didn't know exactly what it was or how I would pay for it - I just knew it was what I'd been looking for. I gobbled up the book, reading it straight through and everything made sense - the way the light works in the body, how it goes to the roots of a problem to overcome mental barriers. At the end of the book the name of the company making the light sets was given - I had the same name as them - Kamla!

On the first day of the Foundation course we learned and swapped a treatment for the immune system - a good all round detoxifier. That night I had an intense healing crisis - a migraine - something I'd often had before. The next day however I was fine - I felt better and clearer than I ever had and I was astonished at how quickly I had moved through the migraine symptoms. By the end of the weekend I was well and truly hooked and as I heard about all the many series that would be taught in future courses I was amazed and delighted to have found such a simple but comprehensive treatment method.

I came back from the Foundation course desperate to get my own torch - I couldn't afford one beforehand - and knowing that I simply had to carry on with the practitioner training. I decided to ask people to sponsor me to pay for my training and equipment and in return I would give them a treatment as a thank you for their support. I wrote over 50 letters and got the money I needed. I started giving Colour Light treatments to my sponsors. It worked. They liked it and wanted more and some then booked whole series of sessions and became regular clients.

Friends were also willing guinea pigs for me to practise on and I found that even very small treatments had a profound effect. A simple emotional balancing treatment led to a friend experiencing a vivid past life, which gave an insight into how to resolve his current life difficulties. My brother-in-law visited having had very bad back pain for several days. Although very sceptical, he was willing to let me practise on him. Stiffly and very carefully he climbed onto the treatment couch and we chatted while I gave him a pain treatment - a few points on the face. Still chatting, he just got off the couch afterwards without thinking about it and when I asked him about his back he was shocked to realise that he couldn't find the pain no matter what way he bent and twisted - it had just gone!

I went on to take the practitioner training and practised more and more on my friends and sponsors with lots of success stories. I went through a deep healing process myself as I received and gave the treatments we learned and began helping and assisting on the trainings. I worked with clients who experienced dramatic releases of emotions and deep understandings of issues in their lives that they'd never been able to access before. Other people had a quieter time in their sessions. One said "nothing really happened - but since the last session I've cleaned out my junk room so I can do my craft work, and I've painted the kitchen and I've put the house up for sale". Sometimes things would change in quite unexpected ways - a friend came for a series of 'unhooking' treatments to free him from the 'struggle' he felt with work and money. At the end of the series he saw that he needed to make changes in his relationship first - the main 'struggle' of his life in fact - this paved the way for him later to become more fulfilled and successful in his work.

My own strongest experience was in the Transmitter Relays - a series of 12 sessions working at cleaning many levels of the being. I released a lot of emotions - anger, laughter, sadness, numbness - and went through a strong physical cleaning too - more migraines! I understood clearly the lessons that were being learned in my failing marriage and the need to move on. I came to realise how a past life involving opium addiction was affecting my current life struggles with food addiction. At a certain point in the series I faced a deep well of grief and sadness and was encouraged to dive right into it. I did so and found that I didn't drown in grief, as I had feared. Instead I found that there was light on the other side - a profound experience of Maya, the illusion of pain and suffering and an understanding that light is at the centre of everything in existence. As we went on with the series it became obvious that I needed to continue my spiritual journey by travelling to India.

After the Transmitter Relays series it was as though my old mental habits and thought routines had lost their traditional pathways in my brain. I would start to go into a reaction to something and it was as though coming to the edge of a field where there used to be a well-worn footpath and finding the field had been ploughed up - no path any more. I would simply shrug and smile to myself and drop whatever it was that previously would have led to a big mental drama or emotional upset. When I returned home I found that the struggles within my marriage had melted away - there was just love and friendship between us and we could part easily and amicably. Within a few months I had left my husband, left my office job, sold the house & furniture, re-homed the cats and booked my ticket to India. I gave more and more sessions and began living the life I had dreamed of doing healing work and feeling that anything was possible. I found myself living happily in India with a new lover having the kind of relationship I'd always wanted. I went through a spiritual and emotional rebirth with parts of myself that had been buried for a long time re-emerging softly in the shelter of an Indian garden cottage.

Being on the training itself was like being part of a loving family - we went to such deep places together supporting each other's processes in the sessions. We had a lot of fun too and still swap stories of our early adventures in pioneering the training in the UK. I carried on to do all the advanced trainings and learnt how to give others the Transmitter Relay sessions myself. Over the following 8 years, I went on to assist on the subsequent practitioner trainings and became a teacher myself. Being with the new trainees, seeing how they change and become lighter each time they come back, hearing their successes, watching them learning and working on people is very fulfilling. Gradually the transformation happens - from their first shaky treatment exchange tentatively putting the light on their fellow Foundation students to being fully-fledged practitioners facilitating professional sessions with 'real' clients in their final case studies. As we enter 2007, I'm looking forward to teaching the 9th year of the training. What a blessing it is to be part of this world of Colour Light Therapy!
